St. Luke’s Wood River is on the cusp of being the first hospital in the St. Luke’s Health System to adopt enhanced robotic technology to perform minimally invasive surgery.
The da Vinci 5 Surgical Robot system will benefit multiple surgical specialties, including gynecology, general surgery, and urology. Compared to open incision surgeries, robotic procedures result in shorter lengths of stay and fewer complications, hospital admissions, or readmissions.
With less tissue damage than in traditional laparoscopies, patients will experience less post-operative pain and improved recovery. The state-of the-art minimally invasive surgical system will also enable patients to remain in the community for their care and serve as a critical recruitment and retention tool for St. Luke’s Wood River physicians.
Your generosity will support St. Luke’s Wood River Foundation’s efforts to install the robot in 2025. St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center is funding half of the $4.6 million surgical robot. Give to the Technology Innovation Fund to support this project.
